Carpet Mats through washing machine

Has anyone tried it on the Fab Vrs. Looking very grubby and could do with a spuce up. Just a bit concerned that they might curl up at the edges and not stay flat when put back in the car. Or is there a better way?

Re: Carpet Mats through washing machine

I washed my old Ibiza mats with a hose pipe in the summer and hanged them on the washing line, two hours late looked brand new and no curls.

Mine are not in the car. Taken them out for the winter. Put some cheap £5 Tesco ones in for now

Re: Carpet Mats through washing machine

You could try an interior brush and some interior shampoo, I got the brush from halfords and AutoGlyms shampoo - works a treat for cleaning the mats

Re: Carpet Mats through washing machine

I use vanish oxy action solution, left on the mat for about 20 mins and then put the pressure washer over them.

Hang them up for about 2 hrs and put them back in. Spanky clean if just a bit damp .

Erm..... yes

It is not recommended. Although the mats look lovely and clean afterwards, my washing machine managed to melt the corner of one of my mats when it became lodged between the drum and side of the machine on the spin cyclye

Do so at your peril!!!

Re: Carpet Mats through washing machine

Personally, I'd wait until the missus isn't looking and then wash them using the shower and some upholstery shampoo.
Not that I'd do such a thing, but it does work very well...
