Filler cap cover

On my 2002 Fabia 1.4 16v, i can`t get the filler cap cover to lock again. I went to the petrol station, unlocked the flap from inside the car, and when i tried to lock it, it wouldn`t.
Has anyone had the same problem, if so please let me know how to fix it.

Inside the boot near the filler cap cover is a cable, peel back the boot lining (it won't break) and check thats in ok and also check that the physical cover will click and hasnt come stiff.
