Default Glowplug light blinking at me

I was on my way to work this morning and had been sat in traffic for around 45mins, when the glow plug light started flashing at me, the engine wasn't overheating and had been idling most of the time. I stopped the engine at a set of traffic lights and restarted the engine and the flashing stopped. On my way home from work it did the normal pre-start warmup and didn't blink all the way home

To cut the story short, what is it trying to tell me?

cheers

Brake lights at a guess then i'll check in a minute or two, how come it didn't come on again.

I'll take it to the dealers on Saturday to check for anything else just it case.

Did yuo maybe start it before the glow light had gone out in the morning??

Mine will do this occasionally. A few days ago i forgot and started before the glow plug went out. The 45min journey to work was fine, but then i got into the car at lunch time and 10mins into the journey the light started flashing.

After the next restart the car went fine with no flashing light.

Check the brakes and if its not them, let it settle and see what happens.

You don't need to wait for the glow plug light to go out before starting a modern diesel, unless you're in arctic conditions (-20 deg C)

When the brake light switch went in my Golf it was intermittent.

I thought it was something to do with the engine management so I kept stopping the car every time it flashed- sometimes it would come back on others it was fine.
