While driving home last night inside of the car was getting warm so decided to turn the warm air to cold air then i noticed the setting was already on the cold side, the heater was still blowing hot air even on cold setting?. Started to think an expensive job before xmas so I turned on the air con on and it took a few minutes to go cold, it is ok now what went wrong?.

its a known problem with the fabia, its to do with the heater motors/flaps, just had mine replace under warranty.

Re: Heater Problem

Is it a major problem, how much would it cost to fix.

dont think its a major problem or expensive to fix(, however it may even be as simple as getting the motor flaps reset as they can go out of wack, this can be done if you know someone with vag com or at the dealers

Don't agree to anything straightaway at the dealers - there are (relatively) easy DIY solutions to a lot of common Fabia problems here - i.e. evaporator temp sensor failure = dash out and £400+ at dealers, or £15 for the part, a quick search on here, and 40 minutes of your own time... Or coolant temp sensor failure = up to £100 at dealers, or £20 for the part, a quick search on here, and 10 minutes* of your time. (And they're just the ones I've posted instructions for, let alone the Lummoxes, Devonutopias, vRSStus etc. etc. of this world!!!)

*This one could take longer if your car requires the coolant draining first!

Re: Heater Problem

Depends on your dealers labour rate.

And why shouldnt they charge? They still have to pay the technician to do the work even if its only the plug the car into the diagnostics.
