Unhappy Help!! What is this noise front suspension 'clunking'??

I am new to Skoda, and this forum, and I am hoping that someone can help me. I am sick of this 'clunking' noise on my 2000 Fabia 1.4 16V. I can recreate it very easily buy pulling forward, then reversing, and constantly cycling the car like this (on the drive of course!), every time the car moves in either direction, it makes a noticable 'clunk' on take off

In normal driving it seems to happen when I pull away, or if I back off the throttle, and re-apply in 1st, 2nd, or sometimes 3rd.

I thought initially it was coming from the from NS, but now I am noticing a secondary clunk on the OS (So 2 seperate identical noises)

To describe the noise, it actually sounds like a metallic clunk, similar to a noise that I have heard previously on another car when the brake pads move in the caliper after changing direction (forward - reverse etc etc)

I have only had the car 3 weeks, and it has always done this - thought it would be the ARB as it was shot to hell, but this did't solve it.

In last 2 weeks, I have replaced the following:

Front Discs & Pads
Front Antiroll Bar and bushes (ARB had the plastic collar problem - what a pig to change!)
Wishbone Consul Bushes (Again - fun for a laugh on a Saturday afternoon!)

Not sure where to try next! anyone got any ideas?

Re: Help!! What is this noise front suspension 'clunking'??

Thanks for the answers,

I'm not sure about the engine / gearbox mounts, if I rock the engine, there is no noise, if I put car in gear and rock with handbrake off, I manage to recreate sometimes

I had thought about the droplinks - i'm gonna get some and try them

Re: Help!! What is this noise front suspension 'clunking'??

Could be brake pads moving around. Did they apply copper grease or anything like that when they did the brakes? If not it could be the pads moving in the calipers. Pads moving in calipers could also be the retainer clips.

I agree that suspects to check here given what you've said would be drop links, dogbone mount, driveshafts (C.V. knackered or any loose bolts) or possibly even the exhaust knocking on something?

It would be ideal if you can get it up on a ramp with someone underneath and re-create the problem.
