Default how to remove lock (delock)?

Greetings!

What is the exact procedure for removing the door lock? (see pic)

After reading some threads (VWvortex Forums: DIY - Replacing the front door window regulator clips and/or door lock module, http://www.briskoda.net/forums/octav...a-today/79156/, http://www.briskoda.net/forums/fabia...-barrel/57924/), I tried the following:

1. loosened the small top screw (how much does it need to be loosened? Almost completely, or just a little bit?)
2. started to loosen the small bottom screw. After about 10-13 turns the lock began to move, but did not come out. Somebody wrote I had to loosen the small bottom screw until it stopped. So I continued unwinding, bit it did not come to a stop, instead after a few more turns it seemed to be coming out of the thread. But the lock still just moved about 3mm outward. At this point the handle could not be pulled (it was holding tight).
So I started to wind the screw back. After a few turns, the handle could be pulled again. Tried to move out lock, still not coming. Finally I retightened both screws, door handle/lock still working.

Does top screw has a role here, or not? Do I have to loosen only bottom one?
Can I do harm if I keep unscrewing the bottom one? I read in a post, that if it comes out, its a big problem. As I wrote, for me it seemed to be coming out of the thread to the point where you just keep it turning but the screw doesn't rise any more.

I also tried removing with the key inserted and turned right, but didn't help.

What have I missed here?
Thanks!

Remove the top screw completely, the bottom screw rotates a cage, when the cut outs in the cage line up with the ribs on the lock barrel the barrel should be able to be pulled out. If you unscrew the bottom one too far the cage will fall off the end of the lock and you will have to remove the window regulator to retrieve it.

Thanks.
So in case of a fabia you dont't have to insert the key and turn clockwise or to pull the handle while unscrewing the bottom screw as said in this post:
http://www.briskoda.net/forums/octav...a-today/79156/

But you do have to unscrew the top screw completely. I suppose I must take care so that the screw not fall down inside the door.
I will try tomorrow.

The only job that inserting the key does is to give you something to pull on when drawing the lock out. The top screw does hold the lock in.

Hi!

I tried again. Top screw was removed. After a couple of turns of the lower screw, the lock barrel began to move back and forth a little. Then, I was turning the screw slowly little by little, and kept pulling on the barrel, hoping that at a certain point the cutout would line up with the ribs.

Unfortunately, after entirely unscrewing the screw, I still did not find the point at which the barrel would come out. The barrel could be pulled about 3-4mm, but then something (probably the cage) still sopped it.

Any idea what's going on?

Thanks!

Managed to do it finally. Put the key in the lock, turned anti clockwise a little, and gave it a sudden pull. The top screw does not have to be removed completely, just loosen enough. Then I loosened lower screw holding the bit in hand, so I could feel the strenghening after about 10-13 turns. Then at some point (this was tricky to find) after a strong pull it came out.

Question Re: how to remove lock (delock)?

I think I'm a bit dumb but I had no success in door lock cylinder removal. This is a Fabia 2002 case and I have two rubber-plugged holes on the door edge. The upper is at the same level as lock cylinder. I unscrewed the torx-headed screw totally, didn't lose it in the door

Unfortunately the lock cylinder doesn't move. Under the lower hole I can see no screw which could be turned/loosened at all?? Do Fabias differ by model or what?
What is the purpose of pulling the door handle before unscrewing the top screw.

Please help!

you need to loosen the top screw about half way. then undo the bottom screw until it feels loose. approx 10-13 turns as stated already.
you need to pull the outside door handle out and keep it out while your doing it!!!
once its all loose the barrel just practically falls out with a slight pull. if it does not come out try un-doing the top screw a bit more. it is a locator screw. the bottom screw holds it all in.
i de-locked my octy a few weeks ago. it was a really easy kit bought from ebay. the instructions where easy to follow.

Thank you, I got the cylinder out of the car. It was the lower screw indeed keeping the lock in place. Unfortunately I dropped the upper one in mud...lost it totally.

Today my wife hit another problem: she can't enter her Fabia because the outdoor handle neither the inner one don't work.
Did I made something wrong? I just tightened the door handle cable a bit (that's why the lock cylinder mess in the first place)and yesterday it worked perfectly. Now we can not open the door at all. HELP!

When I reinstalled the lock, I put the cable back into the original position on the handle's thread. Maybe you should reposition it more loosely.
