Default Insurance renewal time!

Hi all
Just a quick note about insurance , as I got my renewal this week from Direct Line (£143 Fully comp , inc protected NCD , 37 years old , no points or convictions , TD15 postcode for a Fabia 1.4MPI Comfort , max 9000 miles per year , car garaged at night). I thought I'd have a gander at the Confused.com website , just to see if I was being ripped off or not , and it appears I'm not , as the cheapest quote was only £7 less than my renewal (Swiftcover.com , just in case any other MPi drivers need insurance soon!) The RAC wanted £280 , and the most expensive quote (can't remember the firms name) was £299!!! It just shows that it pays to look around come renewal time , especially if you are an RAC customer , by the looks of it!!

Get a renewal quote for Direct Line through Quidco - I got £100 cashback so your premium would only be about £40!!

That's not too bad. I got a quote for my Fabia, £1,600. So .. just a bit less than me.

£1600? FFS! I take it you are quite young then? I remember paying £1200 TPFT for a 2.0S Capri in about 1990 when I was 21 , however that was before all these direct insurers sprung up , and you had to go to your local insurance office to get cover. I very much doubt I'd want to have a car that cost me more than £500 a year for insurance , last time I checked though , I could insure an Evo VIII for about £480 FC , I think my postcode helps a bit.

Thers a couple of young lads in Berwick I see driving a Gallardo Spyder on an 07 plate now and then , I'd like to know how much their insurance is...... unless Daddy is paying , of course.

Getting insurance in your own name as a 17 year old on anything for under 1K is difficult these days. Im 19 and i still pay more than that for my vRS but its worth it!

I'm 21, and pay ~1K for insurance on my 1.4; and that's with 4 years' driving and a clean record (no NCB, due no car of my own until this year). That shows how hard it is to get cheap insurance when you're young. Just haven't got the choice of paying less than a grand a year.

At 18, I was paying £1,600 for my vRS. Then for the Leon Cupra R was paying over £2,000 at 19. Then still .. on the CTR, over £2,000. Yes.. I'm mental.
