Question Leaking windscreen

Hi,

Only this morning did I notice that water appears to be leaking in at the top of my VRS's windscreen directly above the rear-view mirror. I believe that its the original windscreen but can't confirm that as I'm the second owner of the car. Hopefully it will just be the seal as I can't see any physical damage to the screen itself. Has anyone had similar issues (there didn't seem to be much talk on here when I did a search) with there fabia's. What's really annoying is that my warranty expires tomorrow, so what's peoples opinions, is the garage going to be really nice and cover this under warranty?

Thanks,

Mike.

If it comes down to it, you could always try throwing a stone at the windscreen and get a replacement fitted off the insurance for the £50-60 windscreen excess (shouldn't affect your no claims bonus AFAIK).

Must admit I hadn't thought of that one, could I not just get the current windscreen re-fitted under insurance because some how its has become damaged ?

Any way I'm going to call my local skoda dealer today and find out what can be done, only had its MOT there yesterday!

I'll keep you posted.

Does your car have a sun-roof?
If so the leak may be from that and not the screen.

John, RAC Auto Windscreens, have a look at the bottom right where the tax disk is, and let me no the make of the screen, it could be pilkinton or something, or it could be a dealer part so will be a skoda one, but either way mate, look in where the leak is, pull head cloth down, get a torch in there. Get a friend to pour water at screen where the area is and will for sure see where leak is, goto a windscreen company, they could back fill the leak (put glue ova the affected area) or remove and refit screen. is they no reseats in with ur log book of it being done?

Edit - look at scuttle, where wipers are below that the plastic bits, can u see any marks on the round black clips? that will tell u if its posibly been done, a fitter being rough and leavin his signature, or around the windscreen the rubber trim is that sitting good? like factory standard

Hi,

I've contacted the dealer and they said that they would look at it with the intention of fixing any issues not caused by damage. I've since looked at the windscreen and I don't believe that its a skoda part, so might suggest that it was replaced at some point. I assume that if its a replacement part then it will not be covered by my warranty, but i'll see what they say when I take it in.
