| Hi guys, Well, a while back I fancied changing the standard gear kn0b on my fabia 16V so after much hassle I managed to remove the kn0b and gaitor from the car. However, I couldnt get the gaitor off the kn0b and gave up after about 30mins. I went back out today as I will not be defeated and again, struggled to get the blooming thing off the kn0b. I havnt tried any lube but that normally works when I get my kn0b stuck Seriously, any ideas on how to separate the two in the least damaging way? ![]() Was thinking of putting a VRS kn0b on it, will it fit? And how much are they? Thanks all!!! Mike Pembo |

| Separated mine with the aid of a screwdriver..... but it did cause damage, so tbh best to buy kn@b and gaitor as a whole.

| looking at the picture , i think you would have to push the clip type lugs in to get it off , looks like a pig of a job like what 12v suggests , they look like one way lugs so damage will occur to plastic and possibly fingers

| This is why the gearnob and gaiter come complete.

| you might be able to release the little plastic lugs with some good circlip pliers by the looks of it

| If not, a thought occured to me.... Bash slim flat bladed screwdriver into the gap slightly in front of the clip/tag. Then do the same BEHIND the other tag/clip. Rotate the gaiter slightly and it should come off OK. Another thought... Does the bl**dy gaiter rotate at all or is there something else stopping THAT from happening? J.

| Car is in garage at the mo for a new gearbox but I will try the duel screwdriver idea out when I get it back. Tried something similar but I will not be defeated ![]() Will post again if all goes to plan! Thanks everyone! Mike Pembo |
