| Now have the mongrel back in my possession. Running surprisingly well for a car which is still on an old map but now has a brand new big turbo and a performance cam inside it. Power is probably up by about 10bhp - estimate of about 230bhp now. Delivery is much different to the VT2 - When it comes on boost it takes off like a rocket, with a much sharper high pitched shrill whistle from the turbo. It still smokes on full chat - like a TRAIN, but this is expected with it having an old map, and also having had a forced ECU reset again. Not running it with gas either - that needs sorting out first. All in all, very chuffed! Also very glad I'm not having to limp it around until I get back to Jabba - it does run surprisingly well on their old map.

| great stuff Jase! You be de man! Nothing sounds sweeter than a turbo - the louder the nicer! Apparently the VT5 turbo is a non-hybrid VNT 20 (both the turbine and compressor are VNT20) as opposed to the hybrid VNT20 (the turbine is a VNT17 but the compressor is a VNT20 one). Needs a bespoke manifold to mount, as the VNT20 hybrid has the cast-in manifold already there. BTW - Do you notice more lag now mate? Cheers Bas

![]() The cam... Hmmm, well, I never saw it and never really truly found out it's actual effect, but what it should do is provide me with a little more fuelling - possibly by keeping the valves open longer - all together, I'm not sure but I just knew I wanted one. I don't even know how much I paid due to the job lot nature of the bill. But around £500-£600 all in is realistic, which includes the cost of 8 new cam followers @ £130.Edit: And as for the turbo, it probably is based loosely around the VNT20, but the fact they had to fit modified downpipe connection, and also the exit from the turbo shows that some serious work has gone on internally. I've not even seen it myself yet.... ![]()

| does the cam not let it rev higher? I know they do in petrols...... but the big iron engine limits revs in deisels........ maybe with the new map, higher revs/power can be acheived?!
