Default Need some advice on air filters.

Hey guys...

I wanna get an air-filter (K&N) fitted into my 2.0. It's a quick car but I feel I can get just a little bit more oomph out of it by adding a sports air filter.

What are the pros & cons?? Increased bhp by how much (I know its very small but how much?)? Deeper exhaust note? Please advise.

It's my birthday today btw Thinking of fitting neons (green or red) under the car...car is metallica black, heavily tinted...what do you guys think?

well on a non-turbo petrol car the gains are not that much so uless you are going to be doing a lot of other mods in the future to get the power up it is not really worth the money as you will only see about 5%

Happy birthday by the way

Give it a go, cant do any damage apart from breaking the MAF sensor

Opt for a Green filter IMO or a proper K&N Induction kit and get a Cold air feed to it so that it doesnt suck in all that engine heat

MAF? That the sensor whihc the CPU uses to determine the amount of air going in the car? Damn electronics..in any case, I asked my service manager about that..he said that as long as we I put the new air filter in the existing housing, it will be fine...removing the housing completely poses a problem.

How much does an induction kit & a cold air feed cost?

Sorry after looking around on the K&N web site I can only find a panel filter for the 2.0L in which case the cold air feed imo will be pointless, unless your just wanting cold air in your engine bay which I suppose is always a good thing in which case you can get on HERE.

For those of you who own a vRS however K&N now do an induction kit:

SKODA Fabia 1.9L L4 DSL - 130BHP, vRS Automotive 57i Kit 57-0581

But I would definately recommend cold air feeds if you are going down that route, otherwise you'll be just sending cooked air back into your engine

Unsure of the power gains also, someone fit one and let us know how it sounds and what power gains you experience.
