Default New Fabia vRS?

I hate all these rumours as much as the next man, but I was just in my dealers and was blethering about going to the Geneva motorshow in March and I commented how I was hoping they may unveil the new fabia vRS at it.

According to the dealer they received an official bulletin from SUK last week stating there would be NO release of a Fabia vRS in 2008 so it looks like 2009 at the very earliest, Skodas reason for this is that "A technical solution could not be found" Im guessing what engine will go in it is at the centre of the debate so they do not tread on any of their sisters toes.

Also the dealer commented on the new Superb being unveiled at Geneva, and the 3.6 vRS version a very strong probability (Although this bit was hearsay, probably been reading what car too )

That would tie in with what my sources tell me. Might even be later than 2009.

I'd think that the 1.8TFSI (160 BHP) lump would be a better choice, if it would fit in the bay? Doubt it would have the same "fun" factor as the current VRS thou.

For a petrol small hot or warm hatch it would need at least 160 bhp I'd say and it still would be less hp than Octavia VRS petrol and derv. Can't see that VAGs current range of dervs being much cop in it.

Speculation - love it. Surely the new vRS would have to be a diesel though? If the news item I saw on BBC Breakfast this week is correct, if any of us had a petrol Fabia vRS we'd end up putting diesel in by mistake anyway!

Seriously, I always assumed it would be the 2.0 TDI from the current Golf. Then when I heard VW had developed a 2.0 common rail 'TDI' engine and they would probably end up phasing out their PD engines over time for emissions reasons, the common rail motor might be used instead.

Of course I can see the logic in using the 1.4 from the Golf GT though - that follows the performance and economy ethos. What does everyone else think?

Great.

Another "new Fabia VRS" thread identical to 30 preceeding ones and not even in the right section. Oh look people are saying exactly the same things too. Odd that.

I'll come back in a few days when everyone else has got bored.

Actually Decron, it is something new and factual for a change, and if you are not interested dont ******* post

Another pointless post to add to your unimaginative list!

My post wasn't pointless and I am not sure where the list is? Do you have it written down somewhere? Guess thats the point though TBH I admit it's a bit crap of me to say what I said but it's really annoying to see the same thing going around and around. It's not even down to you as you started the thread in positive original way.

However a few posts in and it's not factual, just like the rest of them it's just one or two heresay things strung together with a load of pipedreams. I once said that if I had a tenner for every new Fabia VRS rumour I would be able to buy Skoda and I was probably right. I suppose it's good to speculate and discuss but for the love of god it's like groundhog day with this topic.

It's also nothing to do with the mk1 Fabia, therefore not really relevent to this section. If you don't like that then dont ******* reply.

Flame away and continue musing. I got it off my chest and thats what matters.

I do like it, your age in years is similar to mine, but I guess your regressing a little due to it being the small hours.

The list referred to this:
