I would recommend finding someone in your area with vagcom. Get a scan done as this should point to where there is some form of voltage drop.

So the battery is 100% ok is it? The dash is not going blank when it attempts to crank over?

A scan should sort it. Would offer myself but I'm a long way from Doncaster.

If jump start from good source (engine running) and slow turn over suggests poor starter connection and/or earth. Whilst checking look at the fusible links on top of the battery. Mine looked OK but had loosened.
Best of luck

Bit fiddly isn't it. I was wondering when you did your voltage check that perhaps once cranked over the voltages would drop quite significantly (showing it was dud) - or whether you tested it static. I'm now running a new battery too. Seems the batteries are not all that good and I know have an aftermarket one. Thing is whilst I was changing mine I made the effort to relocate it to the boot. I need the space in the engine bay for more important stuff.
