| Hi everyone, New to the website, basically came on to see if anyone can help. I bought a 1.4 fabia comfort 2 weeks ago, everything fine. used the car up until last sunday with no problems but went to start it monday morning and wouldn't start. it was cranking but wouldn't fire. tried the coil pack but still no good. mobile mech came to look at it and said that it didn't seem to be getting fuel through (plugs bone dry, no smell of petrol on them despite cranking over plenty). he seems to think it could be an immobiliser problem, but not sure? any advise anyone? changed the battery in the key as it wasn't working but central locking still not working, don't know if it's got anything do with owt! Not really a mechanical guy so if you've any advise please be as basic as you can be! cheers. |

| The battery in the key has nothing to do with the immobiliser. There is a small transponder in the key it looks like a little glass maggot, make sure that this is present. I think on the fabia that there is a warning light for the immobiliser, it looks light a picture of a car with a key on it and is yellow if this is lit all of the time then there is a malfunction in the immobiliser system. On the Octavia you can enter a 4 digit code which will allow you to overide the immobiliser, it may be the same on the Fabia. If you have the original spare long plastic key tag, it will have this number on it. Have a look in the handbook or alternatively try the spare key if you have it. |

| Have you checked the fuses? VRStu has a superb website that lists where all the fuses are and what they do. Sounds like you should be checking the fuel pump fuse. Fabia-vrs.com - Fuse Panel Layout Martin
