Hello all.. right...ready for this Parked in Marlborough High Street - immaculate parking as per normal. Busy but still managed to get a free space outside waitrose behind a disabled spot...(never mind only be gone a min) 10 min later its a hey why is my wing mirror in against the glass (Drivers side) push it back out.. Ow pain - all my pastic shattered! no glass!! no note to say sorry i was a TARD and hit ur car.... then im like right pick up all the parts from the ground - dont feel like messin up my tyres - BUT THEY HAD ALL GONE!! So today drove to fish brothers in swindon to THE MOST UNHELPFUL Parts sales man in the history of Sales men decided after an hour that he didn't have a wingmirror in stock and that it would take until Sat to order... With that.. I end up near a dealer in Devizes 'I will never be beaten by a) A sales man or b) Old People (No Offence- I mean like 90+) place called TURNERS - Brilliant man in there helped me out - got the part to be picked up tomorrow at 8.30 was really helpful even offered to check out the rest of my car ![]() With the grand total inc Paint and petrol of £75 i think i did rather well ... all i can say as its coming up to christmas is Im thankful he didnt hit my bodywork and it was only a wingmirror... I will prob post up sum pics of the damage soon lol... - To the person who hit my car! Oh and to Fish brothers in Swindon - your not gettin an Xmas card off me!!!

it's a lesson learnt, don't park near disabled bays... the occupants are likely (or maybe not in this country) disabled

| If the bits had gone, had the person stopped, cleaned up, then driven off thinking no-one would notice?

I wonder if it got hit somewhere else and you only noticed when you came back to the car. Sounds like it was hit at high (not parking speeds) and the absence of peices on the ground - who would bother picking all that up???

I think I would of noticed it... I think its just the fact the mirror is a thermoplastic at a guess hence the ammount of damage... Exactly Why pick up all the Bits!!

FWIW Everyone around the roads I drive on pull their wing mirrors in when they park (as do I). I was slightly miffed when someone clipped my mirror even whilst I was sitting in the car last week (luckily no damage). Now that you have a nice shiny new mirror fixture, perhaps fold it in as a matter of course when you park? Like wot we do? Regards Mo

I always turn my mirror in when parking, but lately, cos I have a new job, I now park in a different area, very quiet. When I got back to my car 'other day, the mirror had been turn back outwards. I clearly remember pushing it in so that traffic could pass and when I looked at it, it was covered in muddy handprints so obviously someone had touched it, why would anyone do this couldn't see any damage but there are some workmen working further up the road, must have been them but I'll park elsewhere in future

Not really on the old people but interested in the experiences with Fish Brothers in Swindon and Turners in devizes though. I went into fish brothers to buy a new VRS on a 56 plate and after three weeks and numerous calls they could not even work out a price with a part exchange for my old car. Rang the Managing Director Mr Fish (There is actually one) to make him aware of the situation and funny enough he never returned the calls after promising to - they were wasters. Went to Turners in devizes and they were fantastic with the best price and great personal service. Would I use Fish Brothers for anything - NO!

| Mine fold in automatically...ACE! well if you class "automatic" as me getting out of the car and pushing them in unconciously. Most disabled badge holders are people you wouldn't class as being disabled. I mean I know someone who has one because they are obese!!!

I know Fish Brothers Skoda read this forum (having had them complain to me about comments I once posted) so hopefully they'll realise I'm not the only one who thinks their service isn't up to scratch. I have also found myself going to Turners in Devizes for parts and they were able to provide both parts for immeadiate collection. Helpful, friendly and polite. They'll definately get my business again. Ps. Last car I bought from Fish Bros (late last year), as soon as I left the forecourt they couldn't have cared less (I was dealing with the manager as well). I ended up resolving most of the issues at my own expense (hence visit to Turners). Last edited by ~~****~~; 09-01-2007 at 19:46.
