Default Problems.....or normal??

Had 54 plate Fab vRS since new, and of late noticed a VERY slight intermittent vibration when idle through the drivers seat, it IS very slight and only now and then.

I looked at the engine today with the engine on and noticed that the engine vibrates (of course) BUT I am sure it is vibrating more than it ever did.

It runs perfectly well, and when in idle there is no speeding up or slowing down of the engine, the needle remains still.

Now, I've read to death issues re engine mounts, could this be my problem, OR is it that after some 10,500 miles the engine has finally loosend up and hence the slight increase in vibration.

I have looked around the engine bay, and no bolts/mounts appear to be missing or loose (however, I dont really know what to look for here).

So, to sum up, very slight vibration through the drivers seat, which comes and goes, and the engine looks as though it has more movement than it used to.

Normal, or not??

Cheers in anticipation folks

Is it through any particular revs have you noticed?

Hey Pal,

Sounds similar if not the same as what I am experiencing at the moment (on a new Fabia VRS) but I find I need to keep my foot on the idle to stop my fillings popping out.

Does it go when you activate the air conditioning?

Well, thats just it, it's now and then, and very slight, although I am positive I never felt this before since new. There are no engine probs, no engine speed issues when idling, just a vibration through the seat when idling now and then.

So, at least tell me this, would dodgy engine mounts cause this, and if it was would the symptoms be a lot worse, like I am beginning to reckon

mine does this once every so often, almost misfired momentarily on tickover and you can feel a judder through the seat (audiable), once revved or moved at all it goes away and in 40,000 miles of driving it's been fine - i put it down to a trait of the car as it's not affecting anything from what i can tell.

I can't see it being engine mounts especially in my case if it goes away once the A/C is turned on. Also I'm no expert but doesn't worn or knackered engine mount effect the drivability of the car e.g. make gear changes more rough?

It's prob the alternator taking up the electrical demand, and making the engine work just a little.........
