| As per the title really. Who's got the quietest Fabia VRS? Who decided to lower the cabin noise level from the road/tyres/engine and what did you do to achieve it? I've got the SEAT upper engine damper thing and a modest amount of Dynamat Extreme around the doors (not that I think the DE does much in that location to avoid noise.... Just wondering where the next step is... Hopefully without adding too much weight. Had an "oh-no" moment and searched SCN too.... Seat don't do sound deadening... - SEAT Cupra.net - the world's largest & most popular SEAT Forum J.

| All your options rolled into one ![]() ![]() ![]() But seriously I think you have gone along the right lines, possibly look at the bulkhead/firewall and any dynamat posibilities behind the dash. Under your feet, an extra carpet or at least dynamat sheeting, but as you say that means weight. I have never bothered with the noise of tyres when picking them to be honest but the Yokohama parada's I have just now are quite good.

| Sound proofed mine under bonnet, wheel arches, boot area, under carpets etc. Made a nice difference ![]() Also got that under-engine-cover thing. Every little bit helps a bit I guess, but I doubt you can realistically expect to not add a fair chunk of weight. Just look at home much weight you can save by looking at Shifty's or Devonutopia's cars ![]() |

| I would lose this competition spectacularly, but then I just crank up the tunes, to drown out the noise. ![]()

| I've gone in both directions at the same time: - cut out cat + backbox - fit the SEAT leon (?) insulation under the engine cover (thanks Jase!), got 2 rolls of b-quiet insulation seafreighted from Canada and insulated the entire floorpan front to rear, and insulated the bonnet under the OEM stuff. May stick some under the front arches as well.... Windows closed, it's fairly quiet inside- windows down you can hear the turbo, engine, etc. Best of both worlds...... Bas

| I've got the quietest vRS, at the moment anyway (sitting on the drive with a blown turbo) Seriously though, I used to be really into my stereos and have fully soundproofed about 3 cars, involving dynamatting all outer and inner skins, floors, roof, under bonnet, spray deadening all the plastic & dash and o-ringing all clips to prevent rattles and so on. I can honestly say It wasn't worth the effort, to reduce road noise by a perceivable amount required too much dynamat, in terms of weight (you can however stop your big ice car sounding terrible outside using a much smaller amount) One more thing was that every time I made the cars quieter - I noticed an even quieter rattle from somewhere, once this was fixed, I could hear the really really quiet creaks and groans, and repeat....................... ![]() |
