Re: Rear brake upgrade?

There are plenty of threads on it, might well be included in with the front upgrades though.

Basically as mentioned its not really worth it as they do very little and corrode up before they wear out anyhow.

Re: Rear brake upgrade?

I was also wondering this.

I know they hardly do anything, but they look so small it looks silly.

Re: Rear brake upgrade?

Whats the reason for them doing so little? I mean I know all the braking force is on the front, but is it the size thats the contributing factor? Or is it just the way the brake bias as been set for the vRS?

Secondly if you where to upgrade the rear discs; would you notice any difference? Or again is it all down to the brake bias\balance and thusly rendering the plan useless?

Oh and finally....(sorry for all the questions)...but whilst I have not had any problems I have heard from other forumers and of course the vRS vs Mini on Top Gear that the brakes on the vRS are a tad poor. Whats the reason for this? Is this again undersized discs and pads? Or just the general design?

Re: Rear brake upgrade?

IF you could fit larger discs then they would just lock up

Re: Rear brake upgrade?

They wouldnt lock up as the ABS will set the balance (doesnt have a load limiter).

They wont do much due to the rear axle weight, as the front loads up and the weight shifts forwards the brake effect on the rear will lessen as the ABS releases the rear brakes.
