retro fitting headlamp washers

This is a discussion on retro fitting headlamp washers within the Fabia I forums, part of the Skoda Model Discussion Area category; just wondering if this is possible as they get really filthy at this time of year.......

RainX or equivalent works wonders. Also I usually have 5l of water in the boot and a sponge. If I've done 200-300 miles in a day then I'll wash them and the 'plates just as it gets dark, although I run the lights permanently in the winter anyway. Perils of being a 'professional' driver.

To be honest it's not worth the hassle of retro fitting them, they're not that good at blasting off dirt, for that you really need a combination of washers/wipers.

Mind you they do look good in operation

Yes, you can fit them them, but they are a bugger.

I would just do the above, personally when i stop for fuel i go over to the air/water and give them a wash down there, i find that dirty headlamps not only make you see less but seem to dazzle other drivers badly too

Re: retro fitting headlamp washers

I reckon if you wanted to do this, there would be a few gotchas.

Probably easiest to get a vRS bumper with washers and swap your plates over to that. No clue about cost/whether this IS the easiest, just seems to me it would be

Then change the 2 liter tank to a 5 liter one and purchase a second water pump (instead of capping off the second hole with a bit of plastic/filler).

With the second pump you'd then power the new sprayers. I don't think there are other problems with that side, other than how to wire it up.

A simple switch would probably do the job, unless you want to hook it up as per 'standard' in which case I have no idea how it's done as mine only fires once (post-start engine) when you spray the windscreen, then after 5 times it will do it again. This can be set in VAGCOM, which makes me believe it is linked to some kinda wiring loom which may or may not be present in your car. Simple switch would be possible for sure though

Re: retro fitting headlamp washers

Having had a Fabia with xenons, I can confirm they are useless, and tbh I wouldn't bother.
