| Seals required for turbo swapout? Hi, As some of you may have spotted in my sig, I've now got a TurboDynamics MD345 turbo in my possession that's gonna replace that standard vRS turbo. Main reason being that it should be able to cope with the boost increase(s) that a remap may bring in the nearish future. I was told it was a relatively easy fit, about 20-odd minutes, as it's apparently a straight swap. That said, I would like to check if I need any new seals or similar materials to make this a reliable swap. If so, besides a Skoda dealer would say one of the tuners be able to supply this type of kit? I am aware that to get a proper impact of the hybrid I'd need to get a remap done - however if I don't get it remapped for a while due to time restraints and other modifications that are in my sig & pipeline, will it have a negative impact on the car's performance and/or reliability? I do have a VAGCOM lead but I am by no means an expert with it. Much appreciate your response

| Re: Seals required for turbo swapout? As far as running it without a remap.. you should be ok. as long as you drive sensibly. you might get a fair bit of turbo-surge and overboost, and if you boot it from low revs itll probably chuck it into limp mode |

| Re: Seals required for turbo swapout? It shouldnt overboost as the boost is electronically controlled. I ran my hybrid for few weeks before my map was done and it was just fine. Also 20 mins is a little optimistic, especially if the oil supply line is seized in which is very common. |

| Re: Seals required for turbo swapout? Ok thanks for that info - I don't tend to go too crazy anyway most of the time, so I'm hoping it won't go into limp mode. That said I may just get the person involved with the fitting to show me how to use VAGCOM to reset errors if needed ![]() Will be on the phone to get those parts ordered soon ![]()

| Re: Seals required for turbo swapout? Getting it from JBS as I haven't got time to visit a dealer & they can post it (at a bit more expense, true enough, but that's my choice LOL ) Trying to get all the gear together for a painless install

| Re: Seals required for turbo swapout? I remember the exhaust manifold gasket being changed on mine - I ordered a new one from the dealer. I don't remember other gaskets but then I didn't fit it. I assume either the turbo came with the other 2 gaskets, or he had ones in good condition off the original vRS turbo? As Ross said, running in standard map is OK. My boost was limited, although to a slightly higher figure than it was meant to be. Car ran fine though. ![]()
