Sick Fabia VRS?

Seems like there might be something wrong with my trusty Fabia VRS.

Well, I drove some 200 miles today on the A46 mostly. It was pretty quiet and relaxed drive at around 60/70 mph the whole way yet the trip only returned 45mpg! In the past this trip would have been at least 55mpg, so it used over 22% more fuel. Now I did have four in the car with a boot full of luggage but even still that's far higher consumption that I'd expect and have seen in the past.

Tires are fine. I don't think it really feels less powerful but when I noticed the consumption half way though I started to think it was a bit lacklustre, that could have been totally psychological though!

So what could be up? It's on a full talk of Tesco diesel... could it be a bad batch? What about some engine management fault? It's the 130PD - don't they sometimes have a problem with MAF sensors that affect the efficiency?

That's about right. Cold weather, full load, heater/lights on; it will use more fuel.

That's about what I've got out of mine since buying it in October. I'm hoping the summer will see better figures: The one time I've done a decent journey in quieter traffic (that seems worse in winter!), I got 49mpg.
