vRS Gear change.

Apologies if this has been aired before...

The gearchange into second on my Fab vRS is a bit on the 'notchy' side, the dealer supposedly adjusted the linkage which made no difference. I've heard the VAG group 6 speed box is like this in all the cars, anyone know if this true? Cheers!

9,000 so far. It has always been bad, when new the gearstick vibrated badly when in neutral but that went away by itself, the notchy 2nd gear change remains.

The vibration is quite common and you right it does go away.

hhmmmm I don't know how to respond to this, except, I'm used to ciroens, and they are naturally very notchy, my gearbox on my GT had to be replaced at 40,000 miles, I've done 8,000 in the furby vRS so far, and its one of the smoothest gearboxes I've ever used, knife through butter in comparison to the citroen, but others (used to jap cars for example) may find it notchy....

hope I helped! lol......

Never owned a VAG car yet with a crap gearbox, IMO they are among the best and I feel for you. Granted, they CAN be notchy but I have never experienced one where the gears dont engage.....yet??

Mine has 26,000 on now but the gearbox has always been one of the best I've used. Way better than my last two cars, an Astra and a Focus.

The gearbox fork?

Not heard of them going as yet in the six speed.

My Box was very notchy from 2nd to 3rd, but i left the car at the dealers for the day and it is fine now, nice and smooth so you probably have a good gear change in there trying to get out, you just need a better dealer.
