VRS Loss of Power While Reving

H there folks,

Just wondering if anyone has come across this before....Fabia VRS JabbaSport Remap, PD160 AirIntake, and Green Filter....I have noticed over the last few days while reving hard, in fourth or fifth while travelling along at about 50mph, when the revs reach 2500-3000, there is a temporary drop in revs for a few secs, almost like a slowing in revs, which then quickly pics up and returns to normal. Anyone else had this? Any ideas what this might be? I am wondering if it might be a MAF sensor issue? Although my green filter was baked, and I haven't oiled it.

Pete

Re: VRS Loss of Power While Reving

2500-3000 revs is when the engine ECU starts measuring boost pressure with regards to safe limits etc. Over or under boost faults will start here, hence why alot of over boost faults seem to occur whilst cruising around 70-80 mph at part throttle.

Any fault codes?

From what your describing it sounds like your clutch is slipping to me.

If the clutch was slipping the revs would increase not drop.

Re: VRS Loss of Power While Reving

I don't think it is clutch slip having had a previous car with that problem some years ago. The revs slow for a very brief period accompanied with what seems to be a slight loss of power. I am also thinking it might be a boost issue. Perhaps a trip back to JabbaSport to see what's happening. Don't know if there are any fault codes, being VAG-COM-less. Will get it checked out.

Apart from on some SAABs apparently. The ECU(s) can detect clutch slip before the driver and "adjusts" the power to preserve it.

i'd ring Jabba and explain the fault , they will probably say to visit them as they know what the problem is and fix it for you

Re: VRS Loss of Power While Reving

Just to update...I had the car into the local skoda garage, as it is only down the road...No faults found...no codes...nothing. And strangely....it seems to have stopped. Very puzzling...could it be related to a lack of a good seal around the air-filter? I drove 450 miles yesterday....I noticed it only once...and it hasn't come back. Very odd. Perhaps I need to take a trip to Jabba.

Re: VRS Loss of Power While Reving

Would a split in the hoses cause this problem?

Re: VRS Loss of Power While Reving

nope....it was a MAF sensor problem. The fault was intermittent, and its return prompted further investigation. In a nutshell, the MAF is on its way out. On order, and replaced next week under warranty.
