Default vrs petrol cap door

i filled my vrs up with diesel last night and the petrol cap door wont close shut. any help on how do sort this would be great.

the same happened to mine mate 2 weeks ago and 8 months into the warranty, got it fixed at the dealers, the guy on the parts desk said it is a common fault and they have to carry out a modification, takes about half an hour, not sure what it is exactly but its been fine since

check out a search,
think its something to do with the clip, remove the bootliner on the drivers side and all the mechanism is there,

yeah inside the bootliner

I inadvertantly found this out when i stripped my interiour, pretty poor design really
