vrs service.

hi sorry to anoy by asking about servicing again

i have a my05 "55" fabia vrs. new 19th oct 2005. currently on 15300 ish miles.

serviced 23rd may 2006 at 9497 miles... but just a lubrication service (£89).

the 1st service was after 7 months, but i haven't done as many miles as i thought
i would by now.

now having read the manual and done a search on here

i think it needs an inspection service (the eqivalent of a 20k) before the 19th oct.

but having phoned both my local dealers, yeovil and bridgwater, they both say i don't need a service until 19500 miles or next may. i asked even though it was only a lubrication service last time and they both said it was ok...

so are they correct??

i only ask as i don't want to lose the warrenty.

cheers matt.

Re: vrs service.

Technically you need an annual inspection each year (hence the name ). Whether it is worth pursuing is another matter - I'm not sure how much SUK care when it comes to warranty work.......

thanks

thought it needed one, now to decide if it's worth having one now or waiting until 20k miles.

Chris

My tip is not to test it!

Talking about servicing with a guy at work to day (Free Lander driver - somebody has to!) he said that his annual service was in December as in 12 months or 12,000 miles, he's nearing that mileage figure now.

He gave the local dealer a call and they stated that he'd be okay for the December service but wasn't to go over that period in time, he was also told it had a tolerance of 3,000 miles over the amount indicated on his window sticker.

Personally I'd want that in blood - dealers are great until the manufacturer pulls the plug and says you ain't covered.

Prove who said what...

It should be serviced 1 year or 10,000 miles after your last service @23 may 2006 whichever is soonest.
So your answer is 19497 miles or 23 may 2007. Your local dealers have given you the correct information

yes it would be really anoying to get a big bill in eg 18 months time when there's a problem and they say it's not covered under warrenty because i haven't serviced it correctly.

No. There are two cycles:
It should have an inspection service on its birthday, in October, no matter how many miles it has done.
It also needs an oil change every 10000 miles.

The annual inspection service comes 12 months after the last inspection service, not 12 months after the last oil change.

thanks, i thought that was the case.

odd when you have to try hard to get people to take your money.

so despite what the dealers said i'll get it serviced before the 19th.

all this could have been avoided if i'd had an inspection service in may.

cheers matt.

i admit i'm probably being a bit anal about this and the best course of action would be to modify the car, invalidate the warranty and service it whenever i like

There should be a list of all the dealers in with your handbooks, also if you go the the Skoda UK website you can do a search for dealers.
