| Hello there, to feed my ebay addiction i am on the look out for some alloys. My standard 16" vrs wheels have 205x45 tyres. What size tyres do i need for 17" wheels? 40 profile?? Would 205 be OK or a little wider?? ![]() Also do 18" fit and if so what profile? My car is standard ride height and i dont intend to lower it or mess around with the arches. My plan is to buy alloys only then get decent tyres separately rather than a wheel and tyre package. Thanks in advance for any replys and yes i have done a search to find this info myself but without any joy. |

| I think the ideal size would be 205/40-17, 18'' is too much. As for the width - you can put up to 225 on it, but I'd say don't go more than 215/40-17. Also if you put on 17'' or 18'' wheels it'll look weird without lowering it. here is a tyre yize calculator to play with: Tire size calculator |

| Just one more thing...i'll get 205/40/17 alloys i think but what ET...35?? Ive just looked at the alloy archive and it seems there are various ET's so is there an optimum value or doesnt it matter much as long as they are genarally VAG compatable. |

| ET35 should be fine. Any of the generic audi/VW ones / copies will fit the fabia. If you need to compare 205/45 R16 with 215/40 R17 in the flesh, gimme a shout. ![]()
