Re: Where to get Hybrid Turbo and Milltek Exhaust

Hi

It's just the same as the Golf PD engine, I'd buy your Turbo from Germany, seem cheaper there, also Milltek shoud be available, try Garrat website they have links to German agents, also join the Skoda german forum for more info.

Failing that you could mail order from JBS, Starperformance or Awesome.

Also try Turbo dynamics or allard for a vnt17/20 hybrid.

Is the turbo your looking at a hybrid vnt17/20 or just a vnt20?

Re: Where to get Hybrid Turbo and Milltek Exhaust

Most hybrids require an exchange turbo so go buy one from a breakers or ebay.de
then send whoever the turbo and some cash and they send you one theyve "breathed on".

or if you are brave and you can find the specs for the hybrid you can DIY it.

Allards Hybrid is around £800 on exchange, materials only - no labour.

Milltek I'm not too sure about really.

Interesting that they will do an exchange - turbodynamics would not take the original Fab vRS turbo in exchange. As I was looking for an all-out new turbo anyway it didnt bother me but it's worth noting I suppose.

The Golf TDi (PD) turbo isnt the same as the Fabia vRS, the compressor housing is spun through 90 degrees to clear the chassis leg.

I don't know if this is relevant, but a distinct memory of my turbo in its first stages of fitting, was it came with the outlet pointing straight up, and Allards told me it needed spinning through 180 degrees to match how the Fabia system works. Luckily this was something quite easy to do. Not sure if this spinning is something that can be applied generally, or whether you can only have outlets pointing in certain ways (like only up or down, or only left or right?)

When it came to matching up my intercooler pipework to my turbo, it was mildly amusing to wonder how the hell it connected to the turbo with the pipework running along the chassis leg, and the turbo outlet pointing to the sky.

Re: Where to get Hybrid Turbo and Milltek Exhaust

It was for a hybrid, it's probably the 17/20 thing being referred to. I specified it was for a Fabia vRS and the model they told/sold me was the MD345 - including VAT & delivery it was just a shade under GBP1100.

Thing is that to get the most out of it you'd want improved cooling too like the vented arches thing at a minimum, FMIC probably better, and a remap/tweak of existing map.

In my case everything is getting done before the remap, slowly but surely

I'll do a fitting 'report' this Sunday, must make sure to charge the camera AND bring it along

Re: Where to get Hybrid Turbo and Milltek Exhaust

I noticed for an extra £50 + vat Turbodynamics do a stage 2 turbo MD376. Its supposed to have a 2275 spec wheel with a 260bhp capabillity, any ideas what that compressor wheel is?

Re: Where to get Hybrid Turbo and Milltek Exhaust

Not a clue but if you give them a call they are very helpful, should be able to send you a spec sheet for both variants.

I wasn't looking for extremely high boost capability as that would require even more work to the car/engine - such as injectors at a minimum - and I couldn't be bothered with that in all fairness based on cost etc.

Mine's 'just' a stage 1 upgrade, it should still give a notable improvement in being able to cope with higher sustained boost but be very driveable.

You considering a stage 2?

Re: Where to get Hybrid Turbo and Milltek Exhaust

For the sake of an extra £50 i probably would go for the stage 2, maybe not for seeking extra power but as its more capable of boost may mean its more durable.
