Unhappy 1.4 rattle

I have a rattle at idle speed on my 1.4 8valve (eng type AQW) fabia comfort have removed the aux drive belt to stop the air con, alternator etc but rattle continues,. sounds like camchain is lashing about drives ok but intermittent stalling no lights on ,car has 50.000 miles on it first reg01 I dont think there are many of these 8v-fabias about does anyone know the camchain set up regarding the tensioner ,spring or hydraulic has anyone heard of this problem on an 8 valve before.

Mine Rattles Like that and Mines A Year Older but with about 46,000 Miles. However you will fnd probably the 1.48v (or MPI) Is The Commonest Type of Fabia Around, Or So It Seems In Luton!

I believe all 8 valve models have a rattle/shudder condition at idle speed. Can't remember why, I can't get technical, but an advisor at the dealership told me this...unless it's just for the 2.0 he was talkin about.

Mine rattled like crazy after just 25.000km. I've changed the timing chain arround 39.000km and now I have 47.000km and it's very quiet.
The problem is that theese engines have no timing chain tensioner. I believe good full synthetic oil can help to enlarge the period until the engine will rattle again.

Unfortunately there is no cure but the chain replacement. A loose chain inserts small delays in the timing of the engine and thus it slightly reduces performance.
