| 12v supply in boot I'm contemplating fitting a cigarette lighter style power supply into the boot of my Fabia saloon so I can run a electric cool/fridge box whilst in transit - in preparation for camping jaunt n France. Is there some existing, unswitched, part of the wiring loom I can tap into for the supply, or will I have to install a new line back to the dashboard fuse panel ? The wiring diagram in the Haynes manual shows the existing cabin cigarette lighter is protected by a 15 A fuse. This infers use of a high ampage cable ? Has anyone experience of such an installation and is it within the scope of average DIYer skills. Heated Windscreen Washers I've seen some of these available as spares for the Polo. Would they be the same fit as the Fabia ? Spare Bulb Kit Do the main dealers hold these, what do they usually include and what approximately is the cost ? Nick, 17/05/08

| To add an additional cigarettte socket in the rear of the car- find a suitable place to mechanically fit the socket , making sure the rear connection is either insulated,or allow a space behind the socket,to stop the positive (+ve ) being shorted out whena plug is inserted. The boot side panels are quite robust and could support a socket. Regarding the wiring , extend the two connections from the original cab fitted cigarette socket , down the tunnel to the rear newly fitted rear socket . The wire used should be the same copper wire cross section that feeds the original socket ,or larger to carry the current (amps) say 20 amp cable. The rear fitted socket will then be fused at 15 amps by the same fuse as the one already fitted for the original socket . If the item requires more than 15 amps continuously ,then wire of a larger cross section say 30 amp , would have to be run from the fuse box ,fused at 30 amps to the rear socket direct. When fitting any cable under the carpet makes sure the insulation cannot be damaged by any sharp metal edges. |

| get a wire to run from the fuse box under the the plastic sides in the car, under the back seat into the boot. for negative get a wire to come from anything metal to the cigarette socket you putting in boot. i usually loosen a bolt and then tighten it with a wire trapped between it this then when connected to the cigarette socket your putting in will make a connection that is also fused. |

| Bought a spare bulb kit (BDB40001A), as above, from the local SKODA dealer, £13 as advertised. But, guess what, no spare fuses included ! The foam holder did have some spare slots in it, although the container was sealed when purchased. And again, Halfrauds equivalent is cheaper, has more bulbs and includes fuses. Nick, 20/05/08
