Default £245 remap by 'car evolution'

Hi guys just been looking for remaps, and came accross this one, Car evolution on ebay.

it costs 245 and is based in surry and essex. they recon they can get 60BHP and 70NM of torque is that possable?

also it says they connect their equipment via the OBD port, but i read that it is technically impossable to remap using this port? is that true?

Can some one put me straight here

If you type 'vrs remap' on ebay you can find this remap

Thanks

60 bhp is unreal, more like 30 / 35 bhp

Think torque goes to around 270-280 lb-ft.

I'd be very wary of a poor mapper as this can skrew your clutch and turbo. I'd recommend looking at some well known tuners, Jabbasport, Awesome, Allard (link's on here) Although they might be a bit more expensive they will work out a bit cheaper than a turbo or clutch

Personally I've never heard of them and as there are a few well known tuners out there (some site sponsors) who will do you a remap for only £50 more, I'd stick with someone better known.

If as your profile suggests you're in Hartlepool, I'm sure you can find someone nearer as well, then if you do have any problems, you haven't got as far to go.

Give Chipboost a try; they did a great job of mine and no problems at all in 6 months.
£250. Just south of Scarborough.

I concur. Had mine on a year and no clutch slip plus very smooth power delivery!

I thought the OBDII was exactly the interface used for a remap? But then I've not had one myself... A generic remap like they'll be offering will be less effective than a rolling road-fettled custom map. Considering they say they'll get more power out of their generic map than you'd expect from a custom, I'd be a bit wary. There are a number of stories on here discussing the consequences of a dodgy map. I'd definitely want to know more before I splashed the cash...

You go for that remap and you will probably be on here in six months posting a thread called "Blown Turbo - Help!"

Do a search on here and you will find no end of information regarding remaps. One piece of advice is not to blow your hard earned on half a job. Spend the extra, you will get more out of it.

BTW 60bhp out of a remap?

I agree, i believed the figures when i first joined, i now see on pistonheads, 190 bhp and 185bhp etc and just laugh, in reality these are around 165bhp maps (if that) LOL

I find it scary how many of these Ebay tuners are cropping up now.

Stick to reputable tuners with customer feedback on various forums etc etc

I'll chip anyone's car for £250, just let me make up that ODB II interface cable and get some maps off bit torrent

Think you can see what I'm getting at.

Why bother going to those lengths? A lucky bag of resistors will set you back less than three quid from Maplin - plenty for several 'custom' remaps - just twist a few together to suit!
