| Attaching Rear Numberplate Hiya, My rear numberplate has fell off there seems to be crosses of duct tape behind the plate it is there any mounting holes or anything there? feels like theres two big holes behind the tape? (pic below) It went in to get a leak sorted out in the boot and the bloke said he sealed it..wonder if this is it?! Wouldn't surprise me ![]() Shot with W810i at 2007-07-10 |

| Skonda Fabic | Re: Attaching Rear Numberplate There are two screw holes for attaching a numberplate but I doubt that they caused your leak. The tape will help to avoid that. If I were you, I'd block the holes up with something more suitable |

| Re: Attaching Rear Numberplate What would you recommend to block them up? Guess double sided numberplate sticky tape from halfords probs attach the numberplate alright as its not drilled ![]() Nice to see the dealers using duct tape to repair things. |

| Re: Attaching Rear Numberplate cant u just drill some new holes? as long as u don drill throo wires or anything. some mastic from a diy store should fill the holes (try wickes, nice and cheap)

| Re: Attaching Rear Numberplate Just clean the area well, and then wipe with nail varnish remover, and then the sticky pads will stick properly.

| Re: Attaching Rear Numberplate Use adhesive strips, don't drill the plate - it'll only end up eventually looking rubbish as water gets in around the drill holes on the plate Yep, Halfrauds and some of their 5mm double sided strips. I've found them to be the best ones for plates; lesser thicknesses have had a tendancy to fall off in the past. Steve

| Re: Attaching Rear Numberplate Smooth peanut butter will sort your blacks out mate (actually anything containing a nut oil will take the polish out from the plastic trim) And if you're feeling like splashing out a little, some Meg's Gold Class Trim Detailer when you're finished with the Peanut Butter. Will bring it to a nice finish, and give some protection also. Should be available in Halfrauds, about £6. Steve

| Re: Attaching Rear Numberplate Yeah, the water will just start to seep into the different layers of laminate, whatever you do. Then it just looks cr@p! at No More Nails - would be amusing should you require the plate to come off again though! Well, perhaps not if you didn't mind it in one trillion pieces ![]() Steve

| Re: Attaching Rear Numberplate a bit of silicon bath sealant in the holes should sort any water leak out , and will be easy to pick out if at a later date someone wants to screw the number plate on

| Re: Attaching Rear Numberplate My rear czech numberplate holder is just held on with super duper bodyshop grade double sided tape. It's going to take more effort than it should to ever remove it, and the plate just clips in to the holder. My front plate will need to come off and a new one put on soon, and I'm not relishing cleaning up after all the tape residue is left on. ![]()
