Cant Get The Bloody Valve Cap Off??

Had my car serviced for them to say I have a screw in my tyre and they cant fix it as the cap is seriously stuck on. We tried everything and it just wouldnt move. Took it to another garage and they had no luck. The garage told me they will have to cut the valve to release the air and I will have to buy a new tyre?? is this true or can they cut the valve and then replace it??? thanks

The tyre will not have to fully come off the rim. I had the same problem and they just cut the valve off. Once all the air was out they party removed the tyre from the rim and placed in a new valve. Re seated the tyre and inflated. 5 mins job and was free of charge, as I go there a lot.

So they are trying to get money out of me! I might go to kwik fit on saturday and ask them to replace the valve and take the screw out and hopefully i wont need a new tyre!

Re: Cant Get The Bloody Valve Cap Off??

if you have alloy caps on the valve ,and they are seized on , then yes the valve will have to be cut off

i get the same problem at work , alloy caps seize on and i can't undo them to check the pressures on the service

they had alloy caps on when i got the car! So take it you can just replace the valve and thats it? The car is really getting to me at the mo with the rear suspension making loud noises, front knocking, rattling coming from somewhere... etc etc. sorry for going on. thanks anyway.

Re: Cant Get The Bloody Valve Cap Off??

the latest tyre removing machines should be able to push the tyre off the rim without actually deflating it , then new valve/s can be fitted

Re: Cant Get The Bloody Valve Cap Off??

We have a "run flat" tyre removing machine these should be able to pop the tyre off withouy deflating first...Would advise complete tyre removal to check the screw damage anyhow then with new valve fitted get it rebalanced
