...the front attachment for the air intake (the bit that attaches it to the front of the car) it looks really restrictive with half of the intake covered with the plastic flap, I have the cupra intake pipe behind it.

I was thinking of shaving a few mm of this off the flap as my car is a proper old smokie with the jabba tune and more air seems to make it better, good idea / bad idea???

I believe some have removed the plastic flap and noticed even more power (Q Josh_PoloGTi), the downside to this was that they couldn't get anywhere near the same kind of MPG (something like 10 less mpg).

Also the flap is designed to send any water that comes up from the road/rain etc out of the air intake, by removing this the chances are you'll get some water flying into your panel filter & potentially into your engine.

My car doesnt smoke at all even after a Jabba tune, I noticed it once on the way home from Jabba but since then no one has commented on it smoking even at a standstill pressing the accelerator pedal.

Before you get a Jabba remap atleast make sure you have the Cupra Intake (larger diameter) and a green panel filter, they will only add about 2 bhp (if that) when your car is standard, post remap they gave my car 14 more bhp (cumulative) and 10 lb/ft of torque (the Cupra Intake was responsible for 90% of it as with the stock OEM intake I got 183 bhp, and the Cupra one 195 bhp).

have a look on seatcupra.net a few have done it on their, I wont eco all of Chris's comments but it does give a slight more poke. Though I'll doubt it is worth it against the chances of water going into the airbox etc.

Before you go if you have got the green panel filter make sure it's clean, I cleaned mine at the weekend and boy does it make a difference now! Mine was very very dirty though

My green panel filter has covered about 5,000 miles at what point do I need to renew it and what do I use?

I think Green recommend cleaning it every 10k (but I'm not sure if it's mile or km) Mine is certainly overdue a clean so I'll be doing that this weekend!

Btw, you'll need a cleaning kit from Green to do it

Mine had done about 10k on it so it was alittle over due......I wonder what power my fabia is putting out now it's gotta be atleast another 10bhp

Yeah I'm abit worried about that to, I very lightly oiled it, I how it wasn't either too much or too little! The strut brace was a bu**er to take off so I dont fancy having to change it again in a hurry

Just fitted mine last night - it says to clean and re-oil every 7000 - 10'000 Km depending on conditions its used in.

Thanks for all the comments - yeah I have the green filter too and its done around the 5000mile mark so a good scrub this weekend will hopefully stop the car looking like a chimney!

You don't have to buy the green kits, or k&n kits for that matter, to service your filter.

Green actually state on their website somewhere that it's perfectly fine to use mild detergent and an old soft toothbrush to clean the filter. I have done this before and it's worked a treat.

Also, the spangly super duper "dirt retention additive" is snake oil and WD40 or similar do the same job. I have used WD on foam and cotton filters before with exactly the same effect as the "proper" oil. They're basically charging you £10 or so for a tiny can of carb cleaner and a tiny can of WD - for the same money you could buy 500ml cans of each, have enough to service the filter ten times over and a few quid in your pocket too.

Just go easy with the WD or additive, as too much of either kind of oil could see you making a trip to the dealer for a new MAF...
