Does the Fabia have deadlocks ??

if i press the lock button once on the fob the car locks iff i press it again it seems to lock again but a more hefty locking noise ?? usually they would be deadlocks but i didnt think it had them

According to the brochures it has deadlocks as part of the central locking. Pressing lock a second time disables the interior alarm sensors which may also unlock the deadlocks?

I was thinking that - i often press it repeatedly as i can't remember whether i locked it or not !

Deadlocks should activate with the first press. However if you have a faulty lock it sometimes takes 2 presses to be sure you need the indicator flash or alarm beep activated as otherwise the car can appear to lock but isn't. If the you have the alarm beep or flash then as long as you hear/see this when you press then it has locked correctly.

^ this is right, and coincidentally exactly the opposite of what the Guy at Skoda told me when I bought the car.

He also told me pressing the ASR button turns it on. Damn him.

well that way i know i have to press it twice like my dads mondeo and im sure his alfa does too

but really id rather just 1 press and forget and nothing if you press twice

The 2nd press deactivates deadlocks and interior sensors. So everything is locked on the 1st press.....

I got my Fab Vrs last Friday. The dealer told me that one press locks the doors normally and the seond press deadlocks it. Now i'm confused aswell.......

On the Octavia 'safe lock' - or deadlock - can be deactivated by locking the car twice with the key or remote within 2 seconds. The Fabia should be the same.

ekk tried the locks today if you lock and kepp button down thedown locks but does not flash led and can still be opened from inside!!!!!!

Just confirmed in handbook - you guys are bang on the money again. Press the lock button once and the car goes into 'Secure Locking Mode' which includes the alarm and the deadlocks activiating. Pressing the lock button twice in quick succession locks the doors but deactivate the internal alarm sensors and the deadlocks - ideal for when you leave a dog or other pet in the car - if any of you are mad enough to.

Just test it - hit lock twice with any of the windows down. Hitting the button twice on mine allows you to put your hand in the car, wave it about a bit, then open the door from the inside - all with the alarm staying silent

Is nobody else curious enough to test these things out when they buy the car?

Used to trust Skoda people. But after a winter of pressing the ASR button before every trip and wondering why the car's so wonky on ice, and having no alarm I'm a manual reader and a distrustful old git.

With one press, the interior sensor and deadlocks are on. So it's right she couldn't get out, but the alarm should have gone off...
