Re: dump valve

You could allways try a SEARCH

Basically dump valves do nothing for diesels as they dont have a throttle valve and no inlet manifold vacuum to speak of. So to get one to work you need one that is electronically operated, this costs money, cicra £300.

And they sound stupid on a diesel.

Re: dump valve

The turbo does not run at the pressure/speed of the petrol ones, so a dump valve would be of no benefit what so ever.

Re: dump valve/new kit?/easy to fit??

Has anyone had the upcomeing dump valve kit fitted from forge?? Something about the pipe kit that normaly costs £90 could be done away with and have a simple T piece for £20. Sorry that iam very vage with the details its what i was told from my local performance shop.

And also how easy are these dump valves to fit. Id drive to forge but its 200 miles away. Anyone know of a more local performance fitter. ( I told prop do it but after fitting my strut brace today ive lost all confidance.(Simple things just dont go well sometimes) Oh and I live in good old west yorkshire.

If you're lucky the turbo will do that without mods - some don't though Don't know why?

Re: dump valve

mine does do it when its cold, but soon as she's all warmed up its hard to hear. if you floor the car from 1200revs and just as the turbo spools up hit the clutch you will hear it. (not so good for clucth).

Re: dump valve

I've been in a Bora Tdi with a forge one and all it did was make the noise. Doesn't suit my Q car and sounds a bit cr@p on a diesel.

the Bora is featured on hhtuning.co.uk

Re: dump valve

why is fitting a dump valve ****??

is getting a bigger exhaust ****? how about different wheels?

tinted windows, thats probaly **** too. oh oh oh, a good stereo. thats probably as chavvy as it gets isn't it?

yet its ok for us petrol boys to have a DV

if you want one get one but realise that its there for sound alone and on performance gain at all

Re: dump valve

Wouldn't it be cheaper to wire a microphone into your Head units Aux-in, crank the amps up and, on your que, get a mate to shout into it ... 'WHOOooooOOSH.PSSHTT.TT.TterT tter TTT chatter CHAT' ?

True, it runs at more pressure.

Re: dump valve

Excellent way to welcome a new memeber, well done chaps

I agree with what bengie's said.

Not for me personally but I believe Forge do one suitable for the vRS, good luck

Re: dump valve

I saw one fitted, heard the noise it made and thought the same, could think of better ways to spend money, plus it only works when you lift off so it takes longer to boost again when you get back on the throttle.

Re: dump valve

I've thought about it too if i'm honest, but it makes the wrong niose, like Whelan, I would also want the chirrup. Plus no performane gain and £300.00 put me right off.

Re: dump valve

Anyone who wants to hear a chirruping, come listen to mine some time.

I gave one Briskodian a ride today in Exeter and he seemed quite chuffed.

Re: dump valve

He's not wrong, chirruping turbo, wailing tyres, and Massey Furgusson combustion sounds coupled to the thrust of Saturn V (and probably Saturn V emissions too!)
