Can someone confirm what lights they have on the dashboard when the key is in and the igntion on but the engine not running? I get the battery, oil, Power steering, and EPC light. Is that normal? I already have power steering problems.... but was wondering anyway

When the engine is switched off there is no oil pressure, the battery is not being charged and the PAS System has no power. EPC Is just the engine management, Rifling through the owners manual will tell you what should be there and what shouldnt

What I was describing was when you left the keys in and the igntion on for a while - Does the ESP / Power Steering really stay lit even after a time with keys in?

Hello Which 1.4 do you have? I'm thinking about the power steering problems you say you're having. Does the power steering (PAS sensor) light and EPC stay on once you've got the engine running? Regards Mo Edit PS I have an 8V so my knowledge might or might not be relevant. Last edited by heresmo; 05-09-2006 at 10:21.

Hi again There are a lot of threads on here about power steering sensors (suggest search PAS in the Fabia forum). They do tend to need replacing periodically. The sensor light can stay on if you have low battery charge, as PS draws quite a lot from it, especially on short journeys. If you're sure your battery is OK, might be the sensor. If power steering drops out altogether, the manual says that you can till drive/steer, but without assistance, so not a complete disaster - it'd be too heavy for me though, so I had my sensor changed. See also the info on part cost versus fitted cost, if you can do your own car repairs. Regards Mo

Hi If you were to become a Freedom member - cost £12 pa with some benefits and helps to support Briskoda site costs - then you could "Ask a Tech" ![]() Re garages, 'fraid I don't know any north of the river. In south London, there's Saunders Abbot in Sidcup 020 8300 2450 and Elmside Garage in Beckenham 020 8289 1846, both of whom I've used and have personally been happy with. They both tend to be booked for two or three weeks ahead, although that's probably a good sign. Regards Mo
