Fabia 1.4 MPi running costs Having read some of the comments about Fabia running costs, I thought I'd add some of my own. I tend to do mostly open-road driving, and I'm averaging roughly 38-40MPG, slightly more on along run. At the moment I'm also trying to use it a bit less and drive a bit more gently. I looked into getting an LPG conversion but the cost (£1500-2000) put me off. I reckoned that it would take about 2 years at least before the conversion even paid for itself, and by then I may well be looking for another car (mine's got 79k on the clock now). Insurance isn't too bad, but the Tax (£170) is a bit steep. So it's not the cheapest car to run, but neither is it the most expensive. The plan is to keep it for a little while unless something goes horribly wrong, or I see something that particularly takes my fancy...I do like the space -recently I transported 3 of my family plus their luggage and was quite impressed that it all fitted in reasonably easily. Also, I can fit standard 4x2 sheets of plywood/mdf across the rear compartment! Finally, does anyone have any comments on the Skoda dealers in the area - I've had a few disappointments, so I've started taking it to T&H's in Leamington (Oxford Street) and I think they are more thorough, and more likely to take your problems seriously. Also they specialise in VW group machinery, so they've got the VAG-COM diagnostic kit, should it be needed.Regards,Dave. |
