Default Fabia vRS w/MTM chip

1) Does anyone have any experience on running Fabia vRS with MTM chip?

2) After checking MTM site, it's my understanding that they're providing you with a brand spanking new ECU. Is this correct or have I got it wrong?

In my mind getting a new ECU would be really nice, since it would be really easy to switch back to original come selling time.

I've not seen MTM advertised much in the UK, from memory the importer here as/was an Audi specialist and their software was nearly 1000 of our expensive English pounds, and I don't remember them mentioning a new ECU either. Don't think you will find many British MTM equipped cars with all the competition here. I'll dig out some old VW Audi magazines and have a look see.

The MTM agent in the UK is Kim Collins QST.

Well done Mr(?) urquattro20v. Managed to find a road test on an MTM modified mk5 Golf GTI but not much else in the limited resouces I have at home.
I see from the QST site the ambiguous way they say 'modified...... computer' and at £550 plus VAT their prices aren't as bad as I remembered seeing them advertised. Though to my thinking the 'modified computer' means re-chip rather than a new ECU or OBD re-flash. Would need to contact MTM dealers really to find out for sure.

Revo and OneClick can't be transferred to another new vehicle, but an ECU could, assuming you can get it recoded to the chassis. I think that's what Juha's getting at.

PS. Custom Code is switchable too.

WEll, BeezerDiesel is partially correct. In Finland, where I live, you have to get the car inspectioned and licensed to legally run a chipped car. The law here says the max power can be raised by no more than 20%. Since most chips raise the power level more than that, you'd have to run it illegally.

Now here comes the issue.. Revo & other excellent software can be flashed back and forth between power program and regular. BUT the regular is still Revo's idea of regular - it doesn't return the car to the state it was before the software. So, should the car ever have ECU problems or some other problem where the dealer will really look into it, the modification would be seen. Fex there are various checksums etc that will be changed by this operation. So, if it were a brand spanking new ECU I would not have this problem since I would just swap back the original ECU. And I could then sell the fex MTM ECU to the highest bidder.
