| what would a fabia vrs have to be running bhp wise to be neck and neck with a new 2.0 golf gti? i understand that these push out 200bhp and must weigh around the same as the furby? no need to state why im asking.....just interested! Daz

| To be honest with you, it's another one of those 'improbbable threads' purely because the Golf Gti is a fair bit quicker than even a mapped Fabia. The money you'd spend on the Fabia would be pointless IMO because by the time you've spent 'a lot' it then poses the question of why did you buy the Fabia in the first place ? I suppose Jason (devonutopia) would answer your question acurately, but it would be a fair wad. ![]()

| It would be a big amount of cash (hybrid turbo, exhaust, FMIC, injectors?, remap, clutch, brakes, suspension, ARB) and then the Golf driver could spend £400 on a remap ![]() Chris

| this is where i say ive raced one tonight and at most it pulled half a car lenght on me and i get told im a liar! slight up hill from about 20 till 70 although the difference was made untill about 50 and then it was the same. i have had a remap from chipboost quoting 175bhp and 280ft/lb. also pipercross induction kit with custom cold air feed and custom stainless steel exhaust with straight through pipe instead of the cat.needless to say i was pretty happy! ![]()

| buy a ctr, from a 10 mph roll to 3 figures i was 2-3 car lengths ahead of him and thats after he blasted off from the start going in front of me for a split second. tho my ctr is around 220 hp, but still the starting behind and going past him felt nice, i was kinda hoping from this thread that a standard furby would not be far behind as im still thinking of getting one. |

| no doubt a standard fabia would stand no chance at all against a golf gti, thats why i started this thread asking what people would expect a fabia vrs to be running to be the same as the golf gti.

| Stick a map on the golf and I'm affraid the Fabia would be blown into the middle of next week.

| I rekon, a remapped Fabia will stay with a GTI golf no problem. Mine is remapped and was with a Type R civic (same power), on several miles stop start and through gears. You just have to change up what feels early, and ride the torque!! I have an original shape X reg Impreza turbo with a de cat and prodrive exaust, and the Fabia is quicker in top gear!!!, though I admit, the scoobys faster once your really going for it, and any front drive car wont touch a 4 in the wet. |

| have far behind a CTR is a vRS once rolling say from 20 mph to 90 mph? the economy is still there digging for me to change to the vRS from my CTR, but i dont wana have a massive drop in performance. I have heard and read many stories of the vRS being on par with a saxo vts / 106 gti to 80/90 mph (i used to own a vts so know about the power they have etc and they arnt to far behind a ctr, few car lengths up to 100) |

| Remember though, Fabias dont go round bends like a GTI Golfs designed to, and the Golf is about £7000 more than a Fabia. On a straight dry road though, the tweeked fabia would be there!! |

| And a Fabia will never keep up with a Golf GTI at the top end.

| i'd say a properly driven mk5gti wouldn't be caught by a properly driven fabia vRS unless you have spent thousands tuning it, but seeing as you could buy a 2nd hand fairly new fabia for less than half the cost of the golf i can easily see why it's worth going for the fabia. but to keep up round corners aswell as straights would take a lot i'd say.

Technically, you'd expect the 4 wheel drive car to be the better, unless it was down to driving skills, i don't know what was going wrong. | |
