| Hi all, my 2001 fabia 1.9 sdi classic has been parked up for 5 days and i whent out to start it up, turned alarm off and opened drivers door and the indicator lights and the battery and a number 1 with brackets round it started flashing all to gether really fast, i started it up and left it for 10 mins, turned it off, got out and shut door then it stopped, i opened door to get back in and it started again, put key in and started car, revved it then a beeping sound started, turned it off, still flashing, got out locked up and it stopped, opened up again and started flashing. So what the hell is that all about, this is the first thing thats happened to my car. Could it be a dying battery or summat, as i say the battery, indicator and a number 1 on the dash start flashing, not the indicators on exterior of car.... Any ideas or suggestions appreciated. | posted- were your internal lights and head lights all flashing together? No not at all, just the dash indicator lights, the battery light and a number 1 with brackets? in the rev counter part. everything else worked as normal, indicators, lights, horn, full beam, internal light, everything, mind you i did say in a previous post that the steering did get stiff if i turned the wheel sharply hence my mate is looking at it next week..... ![]() i had a fiesta where the steering was a bit naff and he serviced the rack, took it of n greased it up as so to speak and it was great, dunno if he can do owt with the fabia tho, his girlfriend works for Andrew Pages in bradford so might be able to sort some cheaper parts out if needed.......I HOPE Will let you know what the problem is if any..... Thanks Spevie |

| I think the number 1 flashing might be the "handbrake on" light? sounds like faults were logged so vag com might enlighten you. My mate has a snap-on scanner which reads my car like vag com.

| is it a quote in brackets for caution? ((!)) is there a picture and explanation in the hand book? For an octavia it means that Brake Fluid level is low or a brake fault and gives 3 beeps . Drive with caution check your manual. It also doubles up as a handbrake application warning Last edited by stopan1j; 11-01-2007 at 23:46. |

| Brake fluid, mmmmmmm, the car us parked at a angle leaning uphill, rear of car is lower than front, when i set off after handbrake released i hear a right clunk, its the rear sheos realeasing from the drum, made me jump anyways... might as him to change the brake fluid as well.... The (1) flashing is not the handbrake sign on dash (!), if it does it again will try and take a photo so you can see. cheers. Spevie |
