Default Hissing noise

I've just had a 40k service and brake fluid change.

On return of the vehicle, I have noticed a hissing noise, almost like air escaping. It seems to be only when the interior hot/cold fans are going. Could it be a pipe hasn't been connected correctly? Would it have been knocked from the service? It seems to be in the glovebox area and was wondering if they need to remove the glovebox for any reason.

Thankyou.

It sounds like the pollen filter, they would have fitted a new one on a 40k service, maybe its not fully in right?

Does it only occur when you go past Octavia owners???

Could it be an air con leak

To give you more of a clue, its to the left ofthe centre consol, runs front to back and the bottom slide to allow removal. If you near Purley give us a yell....

Pollen filter? Which ones that? Would it be obvious if I removed the glovebox?

Aircon wasn't on and hasn't for a while, must run it actually soon.

Andy, anymore clues? I live near Gatwick. I'm sure if its something simple I could have a go myself. Can't do any worse than my local dealership (read the rant going up soon, when complaints have been filed and finished)

You could have a tree leaf or two trapped in the pollen filter - take it out, turn on the fan to full blast, look at the plant debris on the floor of the passenger side as it flies out and then replace the filter.

Filter is under the glovebox as described above no need to remove anything. It's removed by sliding the two clips - haven't my camera to take a picture sorry (and it's raining!), but if you look up from the floor of the passenger side you'll see it, black plastic couple of inches thick by about 6 inches long with two sliding clips. Slide, pull, out.

Maybe they've not re-hooked up the rubber pipe which goes into the glovebox to chill the can cooler thingy? Requires removal of the glovebox though - 5 torx bolts, 2 right down under it, and three inside the door - Quite easy to do really.

Yep, if you do a search a few other's have had the same problem. The dealer should have a technical bulletin on this. Think the solution involves the installation of a mongoose.

Is that what you were told

I was told only one person on the planet can remove the snake. I took this photo after he did my car at the UK hissing noise removal tour 2005

Got the blighter!

Gotta go for some lessons in how pronounce "Strewth, she's a real beauty!" properly.

This has gone off topic a bit eh? Richard, I say remove the glovebox anyway and take a look - can do no harm.

Id say check the pollen filter first.

On a 40k service they would have changed it.

It was indeed the pollen filter. Wasn't clipped in properly at the bottom. Oh and it was the wrong way round. The bit that says 'Air Flow ->' means nothing to my local monkeys. (Not that Ross is a monkey of course)

Thanks all.
