I paid £429 for my full milltek exhaust. This included the larger down pipe, sports cat and rear section. I bought mine from Roadrunner in Nottingham. That was in January and I believe they have gone up in price since then?

Hi
Yes not THAT long ago Milltek did have a price increase
I would go for the decat pipe if I was you give you better increase and also no problems at all for MOT
We sell them for £366.84 + VAT and that is turbo back

Apparantly sports cats are a waste of time on a diseasel you might as well keep it or get rid of it.

IMO if you are still running the standard turbo, keep with the hi flow cat, if you go for the decat there is not enough back pressure to keep te turbo from running away, which could cause problems with the boost dropping out.

Everybody seems to say it will pass an MOT fine as they measure soot instead of carbon emissons.

My concern would be the Turbo pressure (im told the cat helps it) and any flashy ECU lights

...unless you have a remap? I assume.

I guess trying to catch runaway turbos would require custom remaps? Or is there a simple way of sorting it out with a tweaked generic?

Cheers,

J.

PS: Sorry if this is a hi-jack - it seems related....

It will still run away with any remap, its down to how small the turbo is, it just doesnt have enough back pressure to keep the turbo boosting within its limits!!!

Been running an OEM turbo, remap and decat straight pipe for about a year now - no probs at all. Next exhaust upgrade (!) will probably be a custom straight pipe in 3 inch steel from turbo to tail....(After I fit my new TD stage 2 hybrid)...
Cost was about £30 to have the cat torched off /bypassed and about the same to remove the rear box and replace with pipe and a Chrome tip....

its not so much the fact that its a diesel, its more down to the size of the turbo, it wont be able to keep the turbo from over spining itself, and when it does this it drops the car into limp mode.

Picked mine up from roadrunner motorsport today, had it fitted (took about 1 1/2 hours = £60)

can i just say ............

Acceleration is definately quicker and smoother (which will keep my clutch happier)

The noise isnt boy racerish unless under hard acceleration (which i had to test!)

It is a lot of money but i think its worth it if you have a remap.......

next .... ARB ....
