My 04 Fabia VRS makes a loud low pitched drone noise at 20mph, which goes away when the speed increases. Sounds like its coming from the front Also it makes a mid to high pitched noise at 80mph, also coming from the front. These may just be because its generally a noisier car than my last car (Seat Toledo 1.9 TDI SE) The steering also feels heavier than my previous car, its not a problem as I prefer it from super-light over assisted power steering. Is this normal. Any ideas? Thanks

i had that on my fabia. turned out to be wheel bearings. after around 30 it got blooming loud. i made the mistake of driving for a while whilst wondering what it was. the hub had to be pressed off using 20 tonnes of force! there was me with a hub puller and a hammer . but could always be something elsescott

just for peace of mind i'll take my car to a garage for a check on the wheels and the steering. The steering is heavier than previous cars but I quite like it!

The 20mph noise has gone! I got some new tyres today and had the tracking done. My old ones were ok for tread but the walls were cracked on both sides. Tomorrow's drive to work will confirm if the 80mph dull whine is still there.
