| PLEASE PLEASE help. I have already asked about this but i have one more question!!!!!! I have engine noise coming through my radio whilst listening to medium wave and have been told its an earth problem. I have a thought!!!! Can i remove the earth from wires coming from the car and just run the earth from the radio to the chasis. Will this stop the engine noise???? Please can someone let me know if this will work |

You have not said, but has it always done it? or did it just start? if it is the latter as if something has happened. But to get to your question that wont help, as the earth from the radio will go to the chassis any way. Please tell how and when the noise started? Steve

| Hiya steve The noise happened when i changed skoda radio to sony but i had the same problem with the skoda radio as i couldnt pick up medium wave at all. Can you also let me know how to connect a signal booster as i have been connecting the wire from the booster to the ATT lead from the radio which isnt connected to the block. I also have an amp lead not connected to the block. I was wondering if i should have connected the booster straight to the power lead????? One more problem you may be able to help with The harness that came with the radio is a bit different to what i have had with previous sonys I have a red and yellow wire coming out of the radio with bullet ends but these are joined together and there is only one wire leading to the block which connects to the car block thus the radio wont switch off unless i take the front out but i do keep my stations and settings when i replace the front. One more thing. when i do connect the booster lead to the blue wire marked ATT when i switch the radio on ATT comes up on the screen and the volume needs turning up. HOPE YOU CAN HELP |

First, the booster needs to connect to a wire that goes live when the Ign goes live (or the ACC) postion, not sure what the ATT wire is! Re the yellow and red wires again, not sure which is wich, but one will be the main feed (which needs to be live all the time) (to keep the memorys) and the other one connects to the Ign(or ACC) so the radio comes on and off with when you turn the key. On thinking about it, the ATT wire is the wire you connect to your mobile phone, so the radio mutes when the phone rings. so go back to your multimeter, and where the iso connector comes in, you need to find, three wires, or should I say a permiment live with no key in, a switch live (with key in and switched on) and a earth (poss Black or brown) when you have determined these wires, then connect either the yellow or the red, and see if the radio looses its memory, then connect the other wire and that should switch the radio on or off, if not swap them round, the other is the earth. Does that make sense ? Steve
