I spoke to james and he said they are all up to 130, and there is the odd one over 130 most ever seen 133 or 134 i think. I was supprised as i had heard most 130's were 140 and most 150's (golfs) were 170. Either way, my 1600 mile vRS pulled 127.?? and 226 lb/ft so not too disapointed i suppose.

The figures VAG release are nowhere near the actual figures. Most furby vRS's will be 140+. My mates A3 2.0TDI Sport 140PD was measured at 156bhp with no mods whatsoever.

It's the same with 0-60 figures. Why they do it I don't know, perhaps someone on here does?

Only modification was a generous rolling road! Standard cars make standard figures or manufacturers would get in trouble with insurers.

It is well known that VAG 'tone down' their official figures, whether you think it was a 'generous' rolling road which I have never come across before.

The official 0-60 time for a furby vRS is somehting like 9.6 seconds. I think I can speak for every furby vRS owner on here by saying this isn't the case. Knocking a second off that can easily be achieved without any mods.

Mine has been rated at 145bhp with no mods.

I spoke to Skoda UK about this and they turned round and told me the figure they quote is a minimum so every car should have at least 130bhp.

Thats because they figure their cars with a full tank of fuel, some luggage and a passenger.

Youve also got to bear in mind that because its a worldwide market, fuel quality differs greatly and will also affect how a car performs. EG.. the octy vRS in India (i think) is only rated @ 150bhp due to the poor fuel quality.

but as you can imagine with a mass produced engine, they will vary, even more so if its turbocharged. ive seen my car get 149.6bhp std on one rolling road, and 131 on another
if you wanted to be techincal, the PD130 engine is officially rated at 128bhp.

the reason why most RR over-read is because they are of the older inertia type (like jabbas) and they just cant be set up accurately for the huge torque of a PD engine.

Not strictly true. I know GT-R skylines are miles away from stock 276 power. The performance figures prove that with 1600kg kerb weight and <13sec 1/4 lol. The other one which is infact the other way is the current shape Volvo R series, with a claimed 300bhp - but there hasn't been 1 (within the global enthusiast comunity) that has got anywhere near that figure.

Either way the original quoted power by Skoda got the fabia rated group 9 insurance which i think is a bargain, especially as the 130 Ibiza is a group 13

But it's not all about engine power though it's also down to Nickability. If you leave your keys in your skoda most people knock on the door to give them back rather than steal the car

I know my car wasnt completely accurate on the RR figure at Jabba, the reason I believe this is because if you look at the JBS RR day there was one which was supposed to be 192 bhp, but infact was 168, no call me mad but they do seem a tad optimistic shall we say...

Do JBS have the newer sytle RR?

T'was me... I was at least expecting ~180bhp but there you go. I've had a chat with James at JBS about my figures and he explained that it has a lot to do with the RR accuracy. JBS have recently spent a large amount on a top-spec RR which is so accurate it can detect even tyre distortion when the tyres squirm on the rollers!!! As a result, a car that previously ran 175bhp on the old JBS rollers now only sees 165bhp. The car hasn't lost power, the equiptment is just more accurate...

Still means I can't should about 190bhp. Time for hybrid turbos and NOS!!!

That's down to the 'gentlemens agreement' they have in Japan for the self imposed 276bhp limit.

Done under identical conditions? And in a similar vein, how does VAG test engines to arrive at 'official' bhp figures for publication? I'm blowed if I know.

VAG use a bench Dyno to get there figures.

As has been mentioned earlier in the thread you can only get accurate figures on load based ECU cars on a load based rolling road. Inertia based RR's give much higher figures as they allow the engine to spin up unrealistically quick.

Does that mean the custom mapping my car got will be way out aswell as in not that accurate? so in effect higher BHP figure are attainable from an AmD/REVO remap although this is generic as it would have been mapped origonally on a better RR.

From what I have seen Jabba figures and Revo figures aren't that much different on similar cars with similar mods. The difference is on both diesels and petrols running a jabba map they have a big spike low down and then drop off. With Revo the boost climbs and holds.

The result is Jabba has more punch low down but loses it's breath at the top. This is usually reflected as Jabba having higher peak torque and Revo having higher bhp. But there isn't a huge difference.

The spike on jabba maps won't show up on jabba's RR because there isn't enough load at low revs due to the way it works so the ECU doesn't see maximum load and doesn't give maximum boost. However on the road it does, especially up hill.

This also explains why Jabba cars don't go into limp mode on the RR despite being on there 4hrs but once loaded up on a real road they hit limp due to a boost spike.

When mine was done at JBS in October (4,300 miles) it got 129.5 bhp and 227.5 lb/ft (bog standard).
And it's got better since then (with a little help from Messrs Green & Milltek).
