| argh, right an update, got phone today by the very helpful man from 'car select' whom im buying my car through due to the discount i get off my aunty.. anyway Fabia vRS in black.. no extras (come on guys it not that hard one to source one) cant find one in the UK so its got to be made, got to wait 8-12 weeks I really cant wait should i try 2nd hand one, the car i drive atm is truly awfull, 20mpg hits my wallet hard too. But if i do have to wait, any extras i should request if its going to be made for me anyhoo? OR should i just save my money for a mod on the car.. would love a remap but insurance permitting isn't an option. cheers in advance. |

| What options do you want? Any options you have fitted are unlikely to dramatically increase the resale price of the car (especially if traded in to a dealer), although they make it more desirable as a 2nd hand buy. Have you checked the forsale section on here? Mike was still trying to sell his imacculate 1 year old Fabia last time I checked..... ![]() Chris

| I would say cruise deffo. It can be retrofitted but is more expensive than getting it as an option. I have heated seats and xenons which are nice but not essential. Don't bother with a sunroof.

| Be aware that 'Car Select' is owned by Lloyds TSB. If you mean the discount that from your aunt is the staff one, then the price is identical now. We used to get a special deal, but not anymore. Anyone can now buy from Car Select, but watch for their delivery charges, I'm unsure of the new car charges, but used car's are done on distance from Birmingham. As long as you hold a current account with Lloyds TSB, you can purchase a car from them.

| I wont be doing much motorway driving to be honnest, and the journey back and forth to everywhere are along country lanes.. So i dont thinkg cruise control is a must for me. Looking into it and im finding it hard to get finance on a private buy for some reason without needing my dad as a guarantor. I think because ive got 8 or more week to wait ill just save up for a bigger deposit and a new Head Unit. Is it really worth £500 for Xenons? They cant be that much brighter than performance Headlight upgrade bulbs you can buy for about £30-£40 surly? |

| Xenons are a must;the light spread and vision is fantastic. Sunroof gives the inside more light and some ventilation even when the air con is on. Autochanger is worth it too if you dont want to fumble around with cd's. As for Cruise, no experience of it. Dont do enough miles on motorways to justify |

| For the sake of £125, I'd definitely go with the heated seats. I use them all the time, on all but the hottest days. They are simply PLUSH. I can only think of one person who isn't impressed with them. Also (and how vain is this ) but the buttons on the dash look cool, and take up 2 of the blanks I also chose cruise. Again, I use it all the time. Suprisingly useful in 30mph limits as well as the motorway. If you need to travel at a constant speed, simply pop it on. Means you can spend more time looking at the road rather than the speedo, and you can also "cover" the brake in stick situations allowing a quicker reaction to hazards. However, don't be fooled into thinking it will make your car really economical on the motorway as the cruise has no problem in booting it to get up hills etc. If you put your mind too it, by fluctuating speed slightly you can do a much better job of driving economically than the cruise can. Saying that, mine stays positively ON! As for the xenons, I had a small issue with mine "flickering" when the car is fully laden. However, this seems to have gone now. There have been many reports of them being set too low - but 5 minutes at the dealer sorts it. They look seriously cool, with the benefit of auto-levelling and headlight washers. They are like daylight, and I believe they are worth a good 10mph in night time driving. The spread of light is fantastic. Where they really excell is in fog, where they have no problem in penetrating the fog at all. IMO they are a better safety feature than ESP itself! Some people find a sunroof a must, my feeling is it is too expensive to be unused, and is just extra weight at the top of the car. So I opted out, thanks. ESP - think of it like air bags - you will only ever thank it once. Depends how you drive I suppose, but I can't think of any occasion when it would have helped me. I had one incident of sliding on an extensive patch of mud and into a field, but I don't think it can defy the laws of physics! Side airbags might be worthwhile. But again, I opted out.Think that covers all options! Hope it helps. If only they'd left leccy rear windows and heated washer jets on the options list. ![]() |

| Typically I've heard that HID headlights (i.e., the xenons) are about 2.5x brighter than standard 'halogen' bulbs (what you get if you don't pick HID's). However, there are Xenon-filled bulbs which are standard filament bulbs with a different gas, which can be up to 50% brighter than standard halogens. I've got uprated ones in mine and the extra brightness is obvious. The thing is that 55w is the legal lighting limit for headlight bulbs in the UK, but that is an expression of POWER not light. Most halogen bulbs are about 10% efficient, the rest of the energy is heat. Xenon-filled filament bulbs are a bit better, HID's are better still and LED's and flourescant tubes are way out at the front with something in the order of 90% efficiency for LED's - shame they can't make the latter produce useable levels of light or else they'd make superb headlights. Sorry, bit of a ramble there but FYI. ![]()

![]() If you do go for Xenons, you might want to check the price of the replacement bulbs and also factor in that it's recommended a dealer changes them for you ![]() Chris
