Re: Tyers

4 new tyres before 13k miles I'd recommend the Falken FK-452s as a good performance tyre at a budget price, but I'm not sure what the best size to get would be. I'd chose the size based on price as you're not going to notice any difference going from 205 to 215 imho...

Re: Tyers

I'm running Pirelli PZero Neros on my fronts and have to say I'm pretty pleased with them. Around the £160 mark all in for both.

p.s Good to see another Watford boy on here. How come I never see your SE around town?

Re: Tyers

check out Kumho tyres - used em twice on the 1.8T and got serious amounts of mileage on them, excellent in all weathers too.

Re: Tyers

Less than 13,000 on a set of REAR tyres. Good effort - you must have what tyre companies describe as a 'spirited' driving style. My back tyres seem to last for ages - must be the flat cap and the leather driving gloves. And maybe the weedier injectors and smaller turbo.

Re: Tyers

Last couple of times I have needed tyres I got them from these people:

Essex Tyres: Car tyres, brakes, batteries, wheels, brakes and exhausts

Not too far from you, just call up a couple of days before and order whatever tyre you are after, typically they get it in the next day.

I have got toyos for the last little while. Mostly because it was what people advised, also that's what the car came with.

Oh... If you go there don't say you know me. My fabia broke their equipment last time as the wheels were on a bit tight!

Re: Tyers

Protyre are good, not sure if thats just an Exeter and Bristol thing or if theyre a national company. Toyo Proxies I recommend, cheap and a copy of the Goodyear Eagle f1 tread so they grip.

Thay have branches all over the SW, I have used the one in Poole for 4WA.

Toyo Proxies (t1r's) are not a copy of F1 tread patterns and there are just similar and they are also quite a bit superior to the F1's (Both versions). There is a massive performance difference, F1's are crap in cold weather (If it snows, stay at home) and have softer sidewalls that the T1r's.

I urge anyone looking on here for tyre advice to do a search, it has to be the most covered subject of all time.

Re: Tyers

In the past I've always recommended Eagle F1's (and put them on the front of our Fabia) but you can't get the GSD3's easily anymore and the assymetrics which replace them aren't widely available in all sizes yet either.

On the recommendation of BMW forums I gave Falken 452's a shot and they seem pretty good. Much cheaper than F1's too.

Camskill tyres and Falkens webiste were the cheapest when I looked.
