| My fabia Vrs front tyres are nearly worn out and im going to get some new ones, has anyone tried the Yokohama parada spec 2? My car is also making a rumbling noise from the front when driving, does anyone know if this is the tyres? As this the first tyre change on the car and this is also my first car with stiff suspension. I have taken it to the dealer but all they said that is was an over inflated tyre but I think that they checked the pressure after they took for a ride and didn't bother to wait for the tyre to cool first! The noise is still there. |

| There is a lot of tyre noise in the Fabia. Some tyres make less noise than others. |

| if your tyres are Bridgestones , i would say yes they are causing the tyre noise , these are notoriously noisy when worn even more so if on the rear

| They are the standard Michelin tyres and it only started happening a few weeks ago plus a mechanic friend was unsure what the noise was. |

| could possibly be a wheel bearing then , i had Michelins on mine and i never really noticed a lot of extra noise when they got down to 2.5mm before changing them , does the noise get worse when driving round corners ?

| Rumbling - it could be a wheel bearing OR it could just be general tyre noise that always increases when tyres are worn (less thickness of rubber to keep it quite). I have had 205/45 16W Michelin Primacy and now have 195/45 16V Michelin Pilot Exalto 2 on on my Fabia - the Exaltos are slightly softer and quieter and grip better. Yokohama Parada spec 2 - before getting the Exaltos I read a load of info on the Paradas ('cos I like Yokohamas) and spoke to the guys at Demon Tweeks. Be careful - it is really a Track day tyre. Huge grip in the dry but skittish in the wet plus loads of tyre noise (irrelevant on the track but tiring on a day to day basis). They will also only last 8 - 10,000 miles compared to 15,000+ from the Primacy/Pilot Exlato. You choose! PS> If your thinking of the Exalto do check the suitability for use on a VRS as mine are only on a 1.4 Fabia. Last edited by bahnstormer vrs; 03-09-2006 at 14:06. |

| Im pretty sure it's not the wheel bearing as they said that they checked it when I took it to the dealer and the noise doesn't increase when cornering but it does do on bumpy or rough roads, but im going to have it put on a ramp soon and let someone I know to have a good look. As for the tyres, well I do about 12-15 thousand miles a year so the yokohamas might be an expensive option so I’ll have to go with some Goodyear’s or Michelins. |

| If the wheel bearings are OK, try checking the anti-roll bar bushes. Whilst these ought not to create a rumble if they are worn, which they are prone to be, they will cause a small knocking sound when going over manhole/drain covers, poor road surface etc. generally you will only hear this at low speed <25mph, as higher speed creates more other noise to mask it. I have six Fabias in our Company and they all had the front anti-roll bars changed around 25 - 35,000 miles! (you can't change the bushes on their own). |
