Ultima fuel

Hi, is anyone using BP ultima diesel, are the benefits as decribed by BP? Is it worth 7p a litre more?

I pulled up at the pump with 5miles remaining on my trip fully intending to give it a go but when I saw it was £1.029 per litre decided to drive very steadily to the nearest Tesco 95.9p.

Comments pls?

I only use BP ultimate in the car, seems to make the engine run a little smoother and improves performance slightly, along with about 3 to 5 miles per gallon more over standard fuel.

Although all of this may just be my imagination and effective marketing from BP

Our juice in Southampton is 93.9ppl

I have yet to have someone give me a creditable explantion for the variance in prices around the country.

Filled up my octavia with sainsburys finest city diesel yesterday, 91.9P litre.

Always use ultimate for mine. Much more responsive.

No it's worth about 3p/litre more (it's good but not that good.)

Nope! If you're set on using a premium brand of diesel, just use Shell Diesel Extra which is the same price as regular diesel.

I've tried loads of diesel fuels in all my modded diesels and there is negligible difference between them, so I stick with Tesco and collect Clubcard points

Use the search to find several threads all about fuel and the fact that it all comes from the same place anyhow.

Do the same, never got the MPG increase from Ultimate, or any other 'premium' fuel although it did appear to make engine a bit smoother, but the price is too high. Supermarket stuff makes Fabia smoke so much I once completely obscured an on ramp to the M60 - completely blocked all view behind.
Standard BP/Shell etc is a good compromise, little smoke and not too pricey.

thats cheap mannyo , its 92.9 at our Sainsburys and its right next to Stanlow oil refinery

got BP Ultimate in France on the way back from the Ring , seemed a lot smoother on the tickover after 648 miles on the stuff

I noticed no difference on the more expensive stuff in a modded VRS,
I stick to Tesco and clubcard points like Scoobychris
