Exclamation Urgent,Urgent................

.........Just filled up the washer bottle and checked the oil (Furbie vRS) and on the underside of the oil filler cap there is a coating of grey gunge. Is this normal in these weather conditions, cold and damp. The car has been started and moved onto the road for a wash.................or could it be somthing more serious

I would say it was fairly normal in these conditions, someone else had this a couple of weeks ago. I would say that if you are concerned, ask your dealer to have a quick look just in case.

Or maybe it could do with a run...........to Blackpool, for a large fresh haddock

Hi
Yes I believe they call it immulsification (spelling)
Have seen this quite a bit and you would not be alone.
Just shows that your topping up your oil if you see it

Think your going to be ok, had this on my old Astra once, called out my mechanic screaming "Oh my god, i've blown my head gasket!". He said "I can't come and fix it for a week". So i just drove it as normal. Came back after a long run and the icky stuff on the underside of the filler cap wasn't there anymore!

vauxhalls have always been renowned for top end mayo!......used to block up the engine breathers on mk1 astras.....then they would not start!

My dad (in his mid 70's) talks of the problem with Vauxhalls when he was an apprentice!
